Yankee CrossFit was opened in 2010 by Brendan Marolda. A former personal trainer, Brendan fell in love with CrossFit in 2008 and knew this would be his life’s mission. He not only proved to be an incredible athlete over the years—placing 8th at the 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games North East Regional as an individual and earning a 2nd place finish at the 2015 Reebok CrossFit Games as a member the CrossFit Milford team—but he’s also shown he’s a great coach and programmer, helping his athletes conquer any goals they throw at him.

What clients are saying about BAM’s individualized programming:

  • Working with Brendan has been great. He always is providing feedback to me, as well as asking for feedback on how the programming is going. BAM is also willing to look at videos or even when I am working in the gym by myself give me feedback that way. He also takes into account injuries and restructures the programming around that. I really enjoy it and have seen great results. I started off very new as novice lifter and have seen a PR every month that I have worked with him which is great.

  • Several months ago, I decided that I wanted to take my CrossFit training to the next level, so I reached out to Brendan to see if he could create an individualized training program that would help me achieve my goals.  I am pleased to say that the programming is paying off, and I am making improvements as aCrossFit athlete.  Let me share some of the reasons why I believe the individualized programming is helping me. First, this is not a cookie cutter plan.  I have had coaches in the past who have given me recycled workouts without taking the time to get to know me.  There are many factors that should be considered when creating programming for a client including their age, their lifestyle, and their strengths and weaknesses in the gym.  Brendan is very mindful of these elements, and his programming is suited to meet my individual needs.  Let me elaborate. I am forty years old, and the mother of three young children.  My life revolves around their after school and weekend activities, so I need to fit my training in during the week.  All of my individual programming can be done in the morning before I take crossfit classes, and I typically have weekends off to focus on the family.  Another factor that affects my programming is my age.  Since I am over forty, I can no longer train like I did when I was in my twenties and thirties. Brendan’s programming takes my age into consideration, and it includes adequate rest time to ensure that my body can recover from the workouts. Perhaps what I appreciate most about my individual programming is the fact that Brendan knows my strengths and weaknesses as an athlete, so his programming provides me with  opportunities to hone in on areas that need improvement as well as continue to build on my strengths. Over the course of the past few months, I have spent quite of bit of time working on my Olympic lifts and doing drills to learn a muscle-up on rings. I am super excited to report that I got my first muscle up a few weeks ago after working through all of the progressions! I have also been able to improve the technique on many of my lifts, and as a result, I can now lift more weight. I still have a lot to learn as aCrossFit athlete, but I am enjoying the beauty of the process,  The individualized programming is helping me remain committed to my goals, it’s helping me become a stronger, more well-rounded athlete, and it’s helping me turn my weaknesses into strengths.
