How did you hear about CrossFit in general and how’d you end up at Yankee CrossFit?
A friend of my roommate’s in college suggested it and I googled CrossFit gyms near my new job.

What reservations did you have before starting CrossFit / How or what did you do to overcome it?
I was afraid of being the worst athlete there or embarrassing myself when trying something new. As I became closer with the community I realized I just needed to keep practicing my weaknesses and no one would judge me for trying.

How was your experience learning YCF CrossFit Foundations and how was it transitioning into classes?
I had great coaches during my on ramp who showed me step by step what and what not to do so I wouldn’t injure myself. Transitioning to classes was easy because the coaches were still able to pay attention to me in a class full of people and help me when I was struggling.

What differences have you seen in your day to day life that has impacted you positively since starting at YCF? (Friends, mindset, physical, etc.)
Coach Bam told me the day I signed up (and I’ll never forget) that I would start to meet my lifetime adult friends soon and that is exactly what happened at Yankee for me! Since starting I have felt mentally and physically healthier and have found new ways to challenge myself day by day to intrigue my competitive side 🙂

Is there anything specific that has happened (physically, mentally, emotionally) that wouldn’t have happened if you didn’t take that leap and start?
My idea of fun is fitness with my friends rather than going out all the time… I have certainly mellowed out of my party phase since starting 😉

Why do you keep coming back to YCF? What’s the difference between us and another gym?
I keep coming back for the programming, awesome coaching, and of course, seeing all of my friends.

What do you love the most about CrossFit in general and YCF?
I love the community and how comfortable everyone makes it at YCF.

What advice would you give someone who is thinking about joining YCF?
You do not need to have any type of athletic background to join YCF, the coaches will walk you through the foundations step by step and everything is scalable. Sometimes the best part about CrossFit is learning a movement RX that you had been scaling for a long time.
